If you just made the purchase of a Carbon Fiber Hood and need help doing the install, you found the right place. Installing a carbon Fiber hood is fairly simple and follows the same procedure as installing any stock or aftermarket hood. Be sure that before you start, your car is washed and clean of debris, that you have enough room to do your work and remove the old hood. Make sure that you have all tools that will be needed in a close and accessible spot. To prevent scratches on your fenders, use fender covers when leaning over the front fenders. Ok, now for the install.
The first thing you will need to do is open up your stock hood. Make sure the hood is securely propped open with the hood prop to prevent falling while disconnecting items. Disconnect and remove any items that are attached to the hood. A typical hood will have nozzles for windshield washer fluid. Disconnect the hoses and clips that carry the fluid. You will need to remove the stock windshield wiper sprayers from the hood. Some hoods may have a light. Remove this light and any wires that may be attaches as well as any clips holding the wires from the stock hood. Once all items have been removed, double check your hood to make sure that is securely propped open. If it opens with the help of gas shocks and does not have a hood prop, you will need to find an item to keep the hood propped open. Remove the gas shock supports if applicable. Once shocks have been removed, you can now remove the bolts that attached the hood hinges to the car. It is good to have a partner help as the hood will now not be supported by the hinges and will need to be lifted from the vehicle. Make sure that when you pull the hood away, that the hinges and other parts of the hood do not rip, pull, or scratch any wires under the hood, the front windshield, or the fenders and bumpers of the car. Carry the hood away and place it on blanket or in the grass to prevent damage to the stock hood.
Place the new Carbon Fiber Hood on the car and line up the hinges. Bolt down the Carbon Fiber hood. Keep the hood properly aligned. If not, disaster can strike when you attempt to shut the Carbon Fiber hood. Reattach the gas shocks to the carbon fiber hood, the hood light to the carbon fiber hood, and the windshield wiper fluid hoses and sprayers and any other item that had been originally removed. Be careful when screwing into the new Carbon Fiber hood not to go through the top of the Carbon Fiber hood or any vital areas. Once all items have been attached, slowly close your Carbon Fiber hood for the first time. Make sure that all items fit properly, that the Carbon Fiber hood is aligned, and that all tools use in this carbon fiber procedure have been removed from the engine compartment. Once the Carbon Fiber hood as been installed, drive to the nearest car show and show off your carbon fiber.
