Although gaining popularity in recent years, Colored Carbon Fiber has been used in car modification since the early 1990's. It used to be that the only option available when choosing a product was the traditional black and grey checkered pattern. You can always spot a aftermarket hood on a car because the color pattern never looks like true black. The carbon Fiber hood has a slightly lighter shade of color as compared to the flat black that is generally painted on your car. This doesn't not apply if you have a more unique color such as Charcoal or Smoke etc…

This has all changed. Carbon fiber hoods and other custom after market car products are now being dyed to allow for carbon fiber colors. Some web sites are offering Carbon Fiber Hoods in as many colors as 9 different colors. Typical hood colors are found in various shades of Red, Blue, Silver, Yellow, and Orange, on top of the black and grey look. These carbon Fiber hoods will not match your stock paint exactly, but will give you the same advantages as having a carbon fiber hood without having the item stick out too much. I compare it to a ghost flame paint job. Everyone knows you have the flames, but they look at it a couple seconds longer just to make sure their not seeing things.

As time goes on, expect to see hoods in even more colors. As the popularity grows for these custom items, manufactures will meet the demands for what the market is calling for. For now, I think I will stick with the original Carbon Fiber look on my ride.  Check out these sites below:
